I needed a dress for my partner's birthday, he wanted to go clubbing and I didn't feel comfortable in any of the outfits I have. There was a sale on and I saw the perfect dress. Well it wasn't perfect, it needed work, it was too long and was very plain.
I admit I'm a bigger person and I only fell comfortable in dresses that are to a certain length. I find to the knee is a good length, not too long and not too short.
Anyway, the first thing I did was cut 16" off the bottom and hemmed it. Perfect length, just below the knee.
Next I attached my black sequin cord that I have used before. and went all along the top of the dress as you can see. You can do this two ways by sewing or by glue. Sadly I didn't have time to sew the black on, so I glued it. If I had more time I would of sewn it on.
Next I stitched sequin and beads all over the chest. To do this I would sew each one individuality; make sure the thread is secure. Then thread on the sequin and bead on to the needle and letting them lay on the fabric. Then pull the needle through the sequin and the first layer of fabric coming out under the sequin. Finally, I secured the thread. After doing this loads and loads of times (front and back) I was finished and below is the finished dress.
I hope you like this blog, I plan to write another one tomorrow on something I have never made before and if all goes well I should have a video to go with it.
